As above, what have you got and how much do you want? Would prefer AVO, GAZ or protech.

Cash waiting.

Is that open length ? because 10 inch will see you with 6 inch springs and unless you've got rocker arms specially angled , then your tyres will be dissapeared up the wheel arches. If for the rear ---- definately a no no
11 inch open is as far as you can go up front . You will need 7 inch springs and due to the lowered stance , to keep you off the arches when turning under pressure , stiffer springs . You may already have stiffer than the original standard :?:
Finally , 11 inch shocks are on the lower limit of the required piston travel unless going to more expensive shocks/greater travel for given open length.
I've had several years dabbling with many shock/spring/lbs lengths so wouldn't want to see you buy only to give you more hastle
Andy Bailey has a pair of 12 inch AVO's spare ---- what length are you on now :?:

Rob --- not trying to teach grandma to suck etc

Cheers Rob, appreciate the info as always.

At the moment I have 13 rear and 12 front open length (I 'm not going lower, just looking for more travel at current hight- current chasis hight is 148mm front and 168mm at the rear), after some careful measuring with the car loaded I have found that the rear sits comfortably under 12 inches (probably closer to 11-11.5) - my plan is to move the 12 to the back as it will actually increase piston travel as they have a shorter closed length by 1/2 an inch, it’s the same story up front, I think 11 would be ideal, although would consider 10's as I can raise the bottom mounts with a bracket spacer I can make up.

I'm running 180lb rear (9 inch) and 240lb front (7 inch).

I can wind all spring platforms down so that the car is resting on the bumpstops without the wheels binding anywhere and it looks as though they could go another 1/2 in lower without causing issues, my current ride hight means I hit the bump stops occasionally.

I would consider getting a pair of 12's for the rear to test my theory, but it would mean I'd still need to get some 11's for the front in the future, that said it's the rear travel that needs increasing the most..... do you know how much Andy wants for them?

cheers Andy, thats a fair price, thinking about it I'm better off holding out for some 11inch ones or buying new, as if it works I'll be on the hunt for them anyway and it'll end up costing me twice.

Don't know what he'll want for them , try him on PM :?: They were mine once  Regarding the front ride height , don't use 10's to lower the car using higher pick up points as you indicated because then you will have to wind the spring seats to the top which will see you having NO rebound Alex. 125 to 135 front is easy with 11's then you'll want around 145 to 155 mm for the rear as a starting point untill you perfect the set up to suit your driving style. (by the rear , I mean where the seat pan joins the alloy floor panelling as a measuring point.

Have you got long travel rear arms ?
Rob.(sorry it was a long time replying but been working on the green car while it's NOT raining !)

Rob, wish I could work on the car during the day!

I'm looking for about 140 at the front as I have a few speed bumps to contend with :) and 160 at the rear.

I don't have the long arms and think this is about as low as I can go- hence using the 12 inch which are 8.5 closed instead of 9 on the 13's I'm currently running.

The other bonus I can think of in using shorter shocks is reduced roll at the same ride hight, as the inside of the car can only jack up to the length of the shock fully extended.

Roll ?

Roll will not be influenced by shock length . Roll resistance is dealt with mostly on the front and works diagonally . So turning fast RIGHT will be supported by the front left spring/lbs and bump setting. Also rebound at the rear RIGHT . Then the opposite when turning fast LEFT.

If you really want to control roll then fit the front anti-roll bar BUT disconnect one side in the wet   Working on the car in the day time is down to me being self employed / how much business / weather --- swings and roundabouts  Just think  when you're 63 you'll be able to do what you like  BUT you'll have less energy and cash to do it
