Post my stylus and a bit of its history
The original builder in Scotland spent fortunes on the build, the engine is covered in raceline parts but made 1 very silly error he dumped the heater matrix return into the bottom hose thus overheating the car on a fast run, i suspect its why he sold it after only 700miles the second owner sold it after only 500miles (the trip from Scotland to somerset when he bought it). i got it 2 weeks later and promptly found the heating issues out on the m1,it got so hot the thing nearly set on fire. That was the 1st of the upgrades, i changed the rad from polo to golf gti, replumb it correctly and added a kenlowe fan to cool it, temps dropped from 110+ to 70 tops, i played about with various temp stats until i found one that kept the temps to 85 to 90deg moving fan kicks in at 95 and drops it very quickly. The next thing to change was the god awefull avo coilovers and straight / bent trailing arms! the arms had been bottoming out with panhard rod clouting the diff causing a very unpredicatable driving experiance in fact it was horrible! i fabricated my own design arms after seeing some on another persons stylus who lives near me, i then made a new panhard rod to go with them, with the dipped arms i then had more travel on the coilovers so bought some procomp ones to suit, intially the car felt better but i had a very unpredictable 80mph slide at barkstone which scared the whatsits out of me so much so i put the car back on the trailer and called it quits that day and drove my towcar around instead. other than the 1/4mile at the end of the day.
next jobs was the crappy ford alloy wheels and cheap tyres, they got changed for brand new dotz 15" alloys and pilot sport 3 tyres what a differance in grip ! but still had handling issues in the end i followed some info on here and set the ride height lower transforming the car, the last issue was to overcome the twitchy high speed stabilty which was just camber and toe settings. The car now handles like a true sports car, before i could lower it i had to get a new side exit exhaust made as the underslung origanal exhaust prevented me from lowering the car to where it needed to be. Mk engineering made and fitted the whole exhaust.
Engine was the next thing to look at the silver top zetec went like stink but was a cow round town and on part throttle, a trip to the dyno soon sorted that the choke, mainjets and emulsion tubes in te 45dcoes were all wrong. with at done she had a healthy 170bhp and was very smooth.

This year on the way to donnington kit car show the gearbox ate itself, typical type 9 layshaft bearing issues not a result of to much power just wore out over time, this problem then kicked off the latest round of improvements, i have rebuilt the gearbox to v6 spec with all new bearings and heavy duty layshaft, and while i was at it i added a retro ford hydralic clutch conversion.
As the engine was out i thought stuff it and decided to fit arp conrod bolts and the head i acquired in the summer with fz2002 kent cams and verniers should be good for 190bhp ish i then aquired a megajolt as well so i could raise the rev limit to 7500rpm the webcon system currently fitted is plenty good but not user programmable so had to go in favour of the mega jolt. (they wanted £60 + vat and post to reprogramme it, i got the complete megejolt for £150)
I have also fitted a obp pedal box the pedals were always to close,

i just have the chassis and front suspension to paint then its rebuild time, then another 1500mile tour of scotland in april 15.

Well done you , it's easy to sort handling on these cars once you know which adjustments achieve which atributes . If you do more track driving you can always PM me for info
Do you know the names of the previous builder then owners :?:

Sounds interesting any more info.

I have had a similar progression on the Fury adding bits every year, my only problem was that i never got to really drive the car as it was always being upgraded. This year im not doing anything to it other than filling it with fluids and ragging the B'jesus out of it.

Which is how you determine what to adjust
